Obituary: Antonio Augusto Alves, 64, Of Danbury

DANBURY, CT — Antonio Augusto Alves, 64, of Danbury, husband of Isaura (Lopes) Alves, died on Monday, May 29, 2023, at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York, NY.

Augusto was born in Fafe, Braga, Portugal, on January 10, 1959, emigrated with his family to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil as a child, and came to the United States in 1988.

Antonio Augusto enjoyed hosting events, dancing, going to the beach, and spending time with his friends. He most especially cherished the time he spent with his family.

In addition to his wife of forty-two years, Antonio Augusto is survived by his parents, Julio Alves and Ludovina Dos Prazeres Soares; a brother, Luis Alves and his wife Daniele Viegas Alves; a son, Roberto Alves and his wife Robyn Wicks Alves; two daughters, Eliana Rosa Contreras and her husband Jonathan Contreras, and Kelly Alves; five grandchildren, Julius Alexander Wicks Alves, Catalina Alessandra Alves, Zayden Aleksander Contreras, Gabriella Sofia Rosa, and Davi Rei Contreras; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Christopher Mesquita and Kevin Mesquita. He was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish of Danbury.

A Mass of Roman Catholic Burial will take place on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 11 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, 149 Deer Hill Ave., Danbury.

The burial will take place in Brazil.

Visitation with the family will take place on Friday, June 2, 2023, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9 Granville Ave., Danbury.
