Obituary: Douglas A. Wise, 72, of Danbury

A resident of Danbury for the past 40 years, Doug was an active member of Congregation B'nai Israel of Danbury.

DANBURY, CT — Douglas A. Wise, 72, of Danbury, husband of Marian Wise, died on Sunday, September 23, 2018.

Mr. Wise was born in Norfolk, VA, and graduated from Stuyvesant High School and Cornell University. Following a 26-year career with IBM, Doug founded Life Fund Services, specializing in charitable remainder trusts and financial planning.

A resident of Danbury for the past 40 years, Doug was an active member of Congregation B'nai Israel of Danbury and the Western Connecticut Estate and Tax Planning Council. Doug was admired for his quick wit, love of debate, and financial and legal expertise.

In addition to his wife Marian of 51 years, Mr. Wise will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Sharon Wise and her husband Nick Sinnott; son David Wise and his partner Erik Piepenburg; grandchildren Brianna and Harrison Sinnott, and his sister Lorraine Wise and her husband Angel Alvarez.

Services will take place at the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9 Granville Ave., Danbury, on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at 11 a.m. A graveside burial service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the Congregation B'nai Israel Cemetery, Miry Brook Rd., Danbury, with Rabbi Nelly Altenburger officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Congregation B'nai Israel, 193 Clapboard Ridge Rd., Danbury, CT 06811, or another charity in Doug's memory.
