Obituary: Ekaterini 'Kathy' Haralambakis, 74, Of Danbury

Ekaterini was an extremely caring, generous woman of many talents, including baking, sewing, knitting, crochet, crafting, and gardening.

DANBURY, CT — Ekaterini "Kathy" Haralambakis, 74, of Danbury, co-proprietor of the former Mike's Pizza Restaurant located in the Berkshire Shopping Center, Danbury, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2024.

She was the wife of Mihail "Mike" Haralambakis who died on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024.

Ekaterini was born on the Isle of Crete, Greece on Dec. 30, 1949, a daughter of the late Nikolaos and Efrosini (Antonakaki) Daskalakis. She attended schools in Greece and was a hairdresser.

Mrs. Haralambakis immigrated to the United States from Greece in 1975, first settling in Fairfield and in 1984 relocating to Danbury, where she has resided ever since.

Along with her husband Mihail "Mike," Mrs. Haralambakis owned and operated Mike's Pizza Restaurant.

She was a member of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church of Danbury and volunteered for many events sponsored by the church. Ekaterini was an extremely caring, generous woman of many talents, including baking, sewing, knitting, crochet, crafting, and gardening, among others. She loved spending time with and feeding her friends and family, especially her grandson.

She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Purvis and her husband Edmund, two sons, Eleftherios "Terry" and George, a sister Evrediki Papadaki, 2 brothers Konstandinos Daskalakis and his wife Sophia and George Daskalakis and his wife Tammy, a brother-in-law George Kotsaridis, a grandson Ethan Purvis, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Haralambakis was predeceased by a sister, Georgia Kotsaridi.

The Rite of Burial will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2024, at 11 a.m. in the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 30 Clapboard Ridge Road, Danbury, with Father Peter Karloutsos officiating.
Interment will follow in Wooster Cemetery, Danbury.
