City planners, zoning leaders, and Mayor Roberto Alves say a nonprofit developer is seriously exploring a 42–44 unit project, which could address a critical need for older residents while revitalizing a deteriorating property.
   

2. Danbury SID detectives make 2 arrests after month-long drug investigation (fox61.com) — Danbury police say a month-long narcotics investigation led to the arrest of a local woman at a Fairfield Ridge Housing Authority unit and a Brookfield man, with crack cocaine, a gun, and drug paraphernalia seized. Detectives report witnessing a suspected drug sale on South Street before executing search warrants, and both suspects now face multiple drug-related charges and upcoming court appearances.
   

3. Man gets probation in Danbury woman's 2024 death on Candlewood Lake (ctpost.com) — A man has received a suspended jail term and probation in connection with the 2024 death of a Danbury woman who drowned after a night of partying on Candlewood Lake. Prosecutors and environmental police say he recklessly operated a pontoon boat, allowed underage drinking, and left passengers unsupervised with the engine running, and he was also sentenced on a separate Danbury drug case.
   

4. Metro-North Railroad train hit tree on tracks in Norwalk, causing Danbury Branch delay (newstimes.com) — If you rely on Metro-North's Danbury Branch, be aware a train from Danbury to South Norwalk was delayed about 25 to 30 minutes Saturday after striking a fallen tree near Merritt 7. Crews quickly cleared the tracks, but the incident highlights how storms can briefly disrupt this key commuter link between Danbury and the New Haven Line.
   

5. Plea deal offered to CT woman accused of poisoning ex's wine, falsifying paternity tests (news12.com) — Prosecutors in Danbury Superior Court have offered a plea deal to a former Ridgefield woman accused of poisoning an ex-partner's wine and falsifying paternity evidence, proposing 12 to 15 years in prison followed by probation. She remains on GPS-monitored home confinement while pregnant and must decide by early November whether to accept the offer on attempted murder and perjury charges.
