Obituary: Elayne M. (DeGrosse) Bouteiller, 92, Of Danbury

Mrs. Bouteiller retired after working as a bookkeeper at Matz Lumber for many years.

DANBURY, CT — Elayne M. (DeGrosse) Bouteiller, age 92, of Danbury passed away peacefully at her home on Friday May 12, 2023. She was the wife of the late John Bouteiller.

Mrs. Bouteiller was born February 5, 1931 in Danbury daughter of the late Francis and Marie (Arbitelle) DeGrosse. She was a lifelong resident of Danbury, having lived in the same house for 87 years, was a 1948 graduate of Danbury High School, a communicant of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Danbury and retired after working as a bookkeeper at Matz Lumber for many years. She was also the former owner and operator of the Pembroke Fabric Center, worked as a manager at the Dish House in Brookfield and enjoyed sewing and knitting.

Mrs. Bouteiller is survived by her daughters: Renee Bouteiller of Danbury and Michele Hossan and her husband Michael of Danbury, her grandsons: Zachary Hossan and his wife Calliope Michaud and Nicholas Hossan and his wife Katelynn, her great grandson: Lincoln Hossan, her brother in law and sister in law: Roger and Anne-Marie Bouteiller and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son: Mark Bouteiller and her brother: Francis DeGrosse.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday May 19,2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Danbury. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Danbury. There are no calling hours. The Cornell Memorial Home 247 White Street Danbury is in charge of arrangements.
