Obituary: Frances Mary Butera, 93, Lifelong Danbury Resident

DANBURY, CT — Frances Mary Butera, 93 of Danbury, passed away on Apr. 6.

For 68 years, She was the loving wife of Evo J. Butera, whom she now joins in Heaven.

Frances was born on November 12, 1929, in Danbury, daughter of the late John M. and Gladys (Foshay) Mishico. She was predeceased by her brothers, George Mishico, John A. Mishico, Raymond Dickens, and sister Beatrice Ginty.

She is survived by her sister, Barbara Giambartolomei, and sisters-in-law Judy Butera and Patricia Mishico.

Fran was a lifelong Danbury resident, graduating from Danbury High School Class of 1947. She was a graduate of Henry Abbott Technical School’s first class of Licensed Practical Nurses in 1967. She then worked as an LPN at Danbury Hospital for many years. She volunteered at St. Joseph’s Ladies Guild and Amerigo Vespucci Lodge at many of their events and activities. She also shared her time caring for family and friends.

She was everyone’s favorite Aunty Fran, Franny, Sissy; grand baker of holiday treats and desserts, a buyer of limited-edition cookies and cereals, player of Old Maid and Hopscotch, and many other memories shared with her surviving and cherished nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews, their spouses and all her dear friends and neighbors.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Apr. 17 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, Danbury.

Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.

There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, Contributions in Mrs. Butera’s memory may be made to St. Joseph Church, 8 Robinson Avenue, Danbury 06810, or St. Gregory the Great Parish, 85 Great Plain Road, Danbury 06811.
