DANBURY, CT — Gary M. Dinho, age 74 of Danbury, husband of Mary Alice (Simoes) Dinho, died on Saturday, June 17. He was born December 8, 1948, to Eliodoro “Dido” and Audrey Dinho.
Gary was a police officer with Danbury Police Department for 35 years and a member of the SWAT team for 23 years.

In addition to his loving wife of 53 years, Gary is survived by three children: Jeffrey Dinho, Jason (Rachel) Dinho, and Jessica (Felipe) Castro, two grandchildren: Gabriel and Gavin Castro, whom he adored, one brother: Joseph, two sisters-in-law: Diane (Joe) Alves and Lucille Simoes, and several nieces and nephews. A world history enthusiast, Gary enjoyed reading non-fiction books and watching documentaries. Never an idle man, Gary had numerous projects and hobbies that kept him busy. Known for his integrity, compassion, and being a stand-in dad to many, Gary will be deeply missed.
Mass to celebrate Gary’s life will be at St. Joseph’s Church, 8 Robinson Avenue, Danbury on Wednesday, June 28th at 10 am. The family will receive friends at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury on Tuesday, June 27 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
