Obituary: Margaret 'Peggy' A. Carmody, Of Danbury

DANBURY, CT — Margaret "Peggy" A. Carmody, of Danbury, passed away on March 28, 2023 peacefully at her home.

Peggy was born in Brooklyn, NY to Margaret and William Hordt, Sr. on August 22, 1935. She went to school in Brooklyn, NY and graduated from Washington Irving High School. She married James F. Carmody on May 21, 1960, at St. Alphonsus Church in Brooklyn. Peggy was a homemaker and a kind and caring woman who will be greatly missed.

Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and William Hordt, Sr., her husband James F. Carmody, and her brother, William Hordt, Jr. Peggy is survived by her daughters, Sue Carmody (Bill Bethke) and Karen (Mark) Neves. Peggy also leaves behind her loving grandchildren Renee and Ryan Neves.

Visitation for Margaret will be held at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury on Monday, April 3, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial take place Monday, April 3, 2023 at 10:30 am at St. Peter Church, 104 Main St., Danbury, and will be celebrated by Fr. Greg Mecca. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Long Island National Cemetery, 2040 Wellwood Ave, Farmingdale, NY 11735.

Memorial contributions and donations may be given to Danbury Hospital Palliative Care or Ridgefield RVNA Hospice Services.
