Obituary: Maria McGowan, 90, Of Danbury

A lifelong Danbury resident, Mrs. McGowan was a member of St. James' Episcopal Church.

DANBURY, CT — Maria (affectionately known as Connie) McGowan, 90, of Danbury, wife of the late Harold “Hi” McGowan, died on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at Bethel Health Care, Bethel.

Connie was born in Danbury, August 20, 1931, daughter of the late Luigi and Grace (Doto) Capano. She attended Danbury schools and graduated from Danbury High School with the Class of 1949, was a retired bookkeeper of her late husband’s electrical business, and for over twenty years, a Danbury School Crossing Guard.

A lifelong Danbury resident, Mrs. McGowan was a member of St. James’ Episcopal Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Judy Pilch (fiancée Douglas Henry) of New Milford and Sandy Gotthardt (husband Mark) of Naugatuck, a son, Mark Paradise (wife Kimberly) of Groton, 2 stepdaughters, Nancy Degon of Auburn, MA, and Kathy Walter of Brookfield.

Mrs. McGowan is also survived by grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. McGowan was predeceased by her brother Nicholas Capano.

Funeral services will take place on Monday, May 9, 2022, at 11 am in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9 Granville Ave., Danbury.

Interment will take place in Wooster Cemetery, Danbury.

The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home on Monday, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
