Obituary: Mihail 'Mike' Haralambakis, 87, Of Danbury

DANBURY, CT — Mihail "Mike" Haralambakis, 87, co-proprietor of the former Mike's Pizza Restaurant in the Berkshire Shopping Center, Danbury, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024.
He was the husband of Ekaterini "Kathy" (Daskalaki) Haralambakis, who died on Thursday, Jan. 18.

Mihail was born on the Isle of Crete, Greece, on Oct. 15, 1936, a son of the late Eleftherios and Elisavet (Kastrinaki) Haralambakis. He attended schools in Greece and served in the Greek army.
Mr. Haralambakis immigrated to the United States from Greece in 1975, initially settling in Fairfield and relocating to Danbury in 1984, where he resided since.

Alongside his wife, Ekaterini "Kathy," he owned and operated Mike's Pizza Restaurant.
He was a member of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church of Danbury and volunteered for many church-sponsored events. A caring and generous man, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, completing puzzles, and spending time with family and friends, particularly his grandson.
He is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Purvis, and her husband Edmund; two sons, Eleftherios "Terry" and George; four sisters, Evanthea Orfanos and her husband Theodore, Maria Nioti, Ekaterini Haralambaki, and Ioanna Papdaki; one brother, Nikolaos; a grandson, Ethan Purvis, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Haralambakis was predeceased by a brother, Emmanuil.
The Rite of Burial will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2024, at 11 a.m. in the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 30 Clapboard Ridge Road, Danbury, with Father Peter Karloutsos officiating.
Interment will follow in Wooster Cemetery, Danbury.
The family will receive friends in the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church on Wednesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Contributions in Mr. Haralambakis' memory may be made to the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church.
