Obituary: Orvis Frederick Jones, 83, Of Danbury

Mr. Jones was employed for many years with Knapp Tree and later with the Town of Wilton in the Public Works Division.

DANBURY, CT — Orvis Frederick Jones, 83, of Danbury, husband of Rosemary (Storms) Jones, died surrounded by his loving family at his home on Friday, Jan. 12, 2024.

Mr. Jones was born in Winooski, Vermont on Nov. 1, 1940 to Clifford and Hazel Naylor (Mitchell) Jones. He attended Vermont schools.

A resident of the area for the past 62 years, coming from Vermont, Mr. Jones was employed for many years with Knapp Tree and later with the Town of Wilton in the Public Works Division.

A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Jones, an outdoorsman, enjoyed and spent many hours of fresh water fishing and enjoying a cold Bud with his family and friends.

In addition to his wife Rosemary of 62 years, Mr. Jones is survived by four daughters: Donna Ryan and her husband Christopher, Lisa Cray and her husband William, Lynn Kovack and her husband Scott, and Tammy Jones; a son David Jones and his wife Bonnie, a brother John Paul Jones Sr. and step-sister Lorraine Layne, 24 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Jones was predeceased by a son and daughter-in-law, Lester and Traci Jones.

The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9 Granville Ave., Danbury on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024 from 2 to 5 p.m.
