Living in Danbury her whole life, Patricia attended local schools and graduated from Danbury High in 1959. She then went on to complete her education at the Danbury Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1962.
Following her passion for nursing, Patty became a mentor to many staff members at both Danbury and New Milford Hospital and held those friendships she made deep in her heart. After retirement, Patricia enjoyed several travel escapades with her friends and long-time partner, John Hancock. In her free time, she also enjoyed gardening, a good nap (in any location, even at a horse race), visiting discount center stores (Ollie’s was her favorite), the occasional casino trip, and watching her granddaughter grow up and making everlasting memories with her family.
Patricia was everyone’s “Mim” or “Aunt Patty,” treating all her family members and friends as her own family. Anyone close to her family, or in need of a hand, had a seat at her table.
In her last years, she found joy in volunteering her time at the Regional Hospice of CT in Danbury.
She is survived by her daughters, Kristin and Erin Macchiaverna, life-long partner John Hancock, sisters Clara and Marlana Macchiaverna, granddaughter Morgan Taylor and partner Nick Ryan, 2 bonus granddaughters Payton and Ariana Taylor, 8 nieces, 2 nephews, several cousins, friends, and her favorite million dollar dog- Brutus, the true apple of her eye.
Patty was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Joyce Schultz, and brother, Michael “Mack” Macchiaverna.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home 9 Granville Ave., Danbury on Wednesday the 26th from 4:00 -7:00 p.m.
Graveside funeral services and burial will take place on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. in Section 17 of St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
