DANBURY, CT — Robert L. Fuda, 80, of Danbury, husband of Jean (Carta) Fuda, died on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at Danbury Hospital.

A Stamford native, Mr. Fuda was born on June 6, 1942, to the late Louis and Jean (Cantavero) Fuda. He attended Stamford schools and graduated from Stamford High School.

A resident of Danbury for the past fifty-four years coming from Stamford, Mr. Fuda was a retired train mechanic with Metro-North Railroad. He enjoyed carpentry. Woodworking and driftwood art were his specialties. He prided himself in building lighthouses. NASCAR was total enjoyment as well as singing karaoke and the music of the Chairman of the Board, Mr. Frank Sinatra.

A part-time bartender, he enjoyed making people laugh with his dry sense of humor. A legend of his time, he was considered the life of a party and his friends acknowledged that he made the world a better place – leaving it much better than he found it.

In prior years, Mr. Fuda operated the “Hubba-Hubba” Diner of Greenwich.

He attended St. Peter Church of Danbury.

In addition to his wife of fifty-eight years, Mr. Fuda is survived by two sons, Robert Fuda and Brian Fuda both of Danbury, a daughter, Dawn Fuda of Ogunquit, ME, a grandson Thomas Plummer and his wife Colleen of Wilmington, NC, two great-grandchildren Camille and James Plummer, two sisters, Linda Mercier and her husband Carl of New Milford, and Jody Domizio of Chattanooga, TN, two special children who respected him as their grandfather and he, in turn, respected them as his grandchildren, Joseph and Lily Kovacs, his good friend amongst many, Robert O’Connor. Many nieces and nephews survive as well as his pedigree Rylee. In addition to his parents, Mr. Fuda was predeceased by another good friend Joseph “Midnight” Boccuzzi, and by his pet Maggie.

Funeral services will take place on Tuesday morning, December 6, 2022, at 10 O’clock in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9 Granville Ave., Danbury.

Interment will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.

The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home on Monday, December 5, 2022, from 5 to 8 p.m.
