Obituary: Roberta “Bert” Hodge, 79, of Danbury

Roberta was an avid fan of tennis and classic John Wayne movies. She also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren.

DANBURY, CT -- Roberta “Bert” Hodge of Danbury died peacefully on June 18, 2018 at the age of 79 after a long battle with cancer. She was the wife of the late Richard M. Hodge.

Roberta was born in Brooklyn, NY to August and Elinor (Dieter) Morgenthaler. She made her home in Connecticut for more than 35 years, living in Danbury, where she raised her family.

Roberta was an avid fan of tennis and classic John Wayne movies. She also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren most of all. She was a devoted mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren who will miss her every day.

She is survived by her loving family: son Thomas Hodge of Danbury; daughters Donna Hodge of Danbury and Linda Jellen and her husband, Christopher, of Sherman; grandchildren Erick and Lauren, as well as her brother, Richard, of Queens, NY.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 25, 2018 at St. Joseph Church, Danbury. Interment will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury.
