Obituary: Stephen Louis Tranzillo, 75, of Danbury

Stephen retired from a career in sales giving him more time to pursue his true passion, golf, a game he enjoyed throughout his life.

DANBURY, CT — Stephen Louis Tranzillo, beloved husband of Phyllis (Antedomenico) Tranzillo died peacefully at home in Danbury on Friday. August 24 2018 at the age of 75. Stephen was born in Port Chester, NY on December 5, 1942, son of the late Louis and Janet (Bamford) Tranzillo.

Stephen attended elementary school in Port Chester, NY. After moving with his family to Norwalk, CT in 1954, he continued his education, graduating from Norwalk High School in 1960. Stephen enlisted in the United States Marine Corps immediately after graduating from Quinnipiac College. He served for three years, including nine months in Vietnam and attained the rank of Sergeant.

Stephen retired from a career in sales giving him more time to pursue his true passion, golf, a game he enjoyed throughout his life. He began golfing and caddying at nine years of age at Shore Haven Country Club in Norwalk. Eventually he found his way to playing at Richter Park Golf Course in Danbury, where he twice shot his best round of 68 and served as the Men's Club president for several years. He enjoyed competing in tournaments and friendly matches there for 18 years. Steve joined Heritage Village Country Club in Southbury in 1999, where for two years he recorded the most rounds played. He was fortunate to build many relationships on the golf course over the years that provided camaraderie, support and joy.

Stephen leaves behind his loving wife of 51 years. Phyllis: two daughters. Amy Pittman (Larry Pittman) of Bristol, CT and Cara Pellicone (Tom Pellicone Jr.) of Newtown, CT, five beloved grandchildren: George. Stephen and Charles Pittman and Sam and Julia Pellicone.

Stephen was predeceased by his sister, Susan J. Luz of Scottsdale. AZ and is survived by his sister. Jill Fisher (Donald) of Middlebury. CT and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 30 at Danbury United Methodist Church, 5 Clapboard Ridge Rd, Danbury at 10:00 a.m. Calling hours will be at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street in Danbury on Wednesday, August 29 from 4 to 7 p.m.
