Officer Assaulted, 4 Arrested After Danbury Drug Bust: PD

DANBURY, CT — Four people were arrested after officers investigated a known drug house on Balmforth Avenue Thursday, according to police.

Police have responded to the residence on several occasions for life-threatening drug-related medical calls, said Lt. Mark Williams, police spokesman.

Drugs and drug paraphernalia were found on a table near a group of people who appeared to be ingesting drugs, Williams said. John Fernandez, 27, attempted to escape and was taken into custody after a struggle that included using a Taser on him.

Fernandez and a police investigator were sent to the hospital after the incident.

Fernandez of Danbury was charged with assault on a police officer, interfering with police, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $150,000.

John Crowell, 54, of Danbury was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $500.

John Timan, 53, of Danbury was charged with interfering with police and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Sonia Veras-Martinez, 28, of Danbury was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance. Bail was set at $2,500. There were also several other outstanding arrest warrants for her that carried a total bail amount of $16,000.
