Pedestrian Found Seriously Injured In Snowbank, Woman Arrested: Danbury Police

Police said the driver later came to headquarters and officers determined her vehicle had struck the pedestrian.

DANBURY, CT — A Danbury woman is facing charges after police said she left the scene of a crash that seriously injured a pedestrian on Wooster Street.

Officers were called to the area around 10:35 p.m. on Jan. 30 following a report of a vehicle striking a person, according to Danbury police.

When they arrived, officers found an adult man in a snowbank suffering from serious injuries. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Witnesses told police a vehicle had left the area after the collision. Investigators found debris in the roadway consistent with a crash but were unable to locate a suspect vehicle that night.

The following evening, Marianna Teixeira, 21, went to Danbury Police Department headquarters to report that she had hit what she believed was a snowbank in the Wooster Street area, police said.

After examining the vehicle and continuing their investigation, officers determined the damage was consistent with the earlier pedestrian crash, police said.

Teixeira was later charged in connection with the incident. Police said she faces charges including evading responsibility involving serious physical injury, third-degree assault and failure to avoid collision with a pedestrian.
