Plain Clothes Danbury Detective Sees Stabbing, Makes Arrest

Sometimes, you're just in the right place at the right time.

DANBURY, CT — A plain clothes Danbury detective arrested a man for a violent crime that he happened upon.

On Tuesday at approximately 12:35 p.m., Detective Len LaBonia witnessed a stabbing while driving an unmarked car in the area of 345 Main Street. The detective exited his car to intervene when he witnessed Gabriel Silba, 21, of Danbury, stab another man in the stomach after engaging in a heated argument, according to a police report.

Detective LaBonia gave chase and apprehended Silba whene he tried to flee the scene. The stabbing victim, an adult man, was taken to Danbury Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

Police learned later that the stabbing was related to Silba robbing the other man of a pair of boots.

Silba was transported to Danbury police HQ and charged with First Degree Robbery, Sixth Degree Larceny, First Degree Assault and Breach of Peace. He was held on a $250,000 bond.
