Police: Danbury Man Charged with DWI Provided Fake Identity

The man was stopped by troopers for traveling under 40 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone.

A Danbury man was arrested and charged with numerous offenses after he provided police with a fake identity.

New York State Police Troopers patrolling I-84 in Southeast, New York stopped the man’s vehicle around 3:20 a.m. for traveling under 40 miles per hour in a posted 55 mile per hour zone. While Police conducted their investigation, it was discovered that the driver of the vehicle, Jose Ramirez, 27 was intoxicated.

Ramirez provided police with the name and date of birth of another subject, knowingly misrepresenting his actual identity, police said. He was arrested and issued tickets for DWI under the fictitious name he supplied police. Ramirez was arraigned in the Town of Southeast Court and released on his own recognizance.

According to police, shortly after Ramirez was released from police custody, it was discovered that he had given police the name “Rodriguez” to avoid arrest. By providing police with an altered name, he forged and created false business records at the East Fishkill station.

Troopers located Ramirez at a nearby plaza and charged him with second degree forgery, a Class D felony, first-degree falsifying business records, a Class E Felony and false personation and driving while intoxicated, both misdemeanors.
