Police: Naugatuck Man Charged with Burglary, Attempted Robbery

Police say the man attempted to rob an apartment shortly after he tried to knock over a pharmacy. He was unsuccessful both times.

NAUGATUCK, CT — Plea hearings have been scheduled for a Naugatuck man accused of burglarizing an apartment and attempting to rob a drug store, the News-Times is reporting.

Police arrested Justin Na, 27, of Prospect Street, in connection with both incidents in Danbury the night of Aug. 26.

After trying multiple times unsuccessfully to swipe his credit card at the Walgreens Pharmacy on Main Street, Na yelled racial slurs at the manager, according to the report. He then demanded the manager give him money from the register, and when the manager ignored him, threatened to return with guns, the News-Times reported.

Police tracked Na's car based upon the report of a witness, and took him into custody. He was charged with third-degree attempt to commit robbery, second-degree threatening and third-degree intimidation based on bigotry or bias for the Walgreens incident. Na was also charged with first-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief and sixth-degree larceny for the burglary, which he denied, according to the News-Times.
