Police Identify Danbury Man Killed in Padanaram Road Accident

DANBURY, CT -- Police have identified Walter Cardenas Salinas, 45, of Danbury, as the man killed when a “very large” tree fell on the passenger compartment of his truck shortly before 9 a.m. on Tuesday.

Police and firefighters responded to the report of "wires down" at 8:48 a.m. on Tuesday, and found the truck beneath the wires and on fire.

Salinas was the passenger in a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 traveling north on Padanaram Road driven by Edgar Nugra. Police found Nugra unconscious in the cab of the truck and had him transported to the hospital for evaluation. Salinas was pronounced dead at the scene.

About 187 customers were without power following the incident, which saw power lines brought down by the fallen tree.
