Police Rescue Dog on I-84 in Danbury

DANBURY, CT — A German Shepherd which had run onto Interstate 84 in Danbury was rescued by state troopers this weekend.

The dog, named Scooby, had run away from his owner and onto the highway. Fortunately a trooper was working nearby on the site of a construction pattern and "Scooby immediately hopped into his cruiser," according to the report.

It is possible the dog was drawn to the police cruiser less out of a sense of duty, and more from hunger.

"Needless to say, there were no Scooby Snacks on the highway but Scooby managed to devour all of TPR Rivera’s beef and broccoli he had packed for dinner," the police wrote on Facebook.

Police returned Scooby to the dog's owner later that day.
