The Danbury , and firefighters got to see one of their officers recognized as a Greater Danbury Community Hero this week by the American Red Cross.

The Danbury News-Times reported that Lt. William Lounsbury was honored at the Red Cross’s 2012 Community Heroes of Western Connecticut breakfast on Thursday.

In November while off duty, Lounsbury stopped a van rolling backwards on an I-84 exit ramp and called an ambulance for the driver, who had suffered a stroke at the wheel. Lounsbury’s actions saved the driver from serious injury from either a vehicle accident or the stroke, the article said.
