Retired Danbury Police Sergeant, 51, Loses Battle with Liver, Kidney Disease
Adam Fernand was with the department for almost 30 years.

A retired Danbury police sergeant died Tuesday after a battle with liver and kidney disease.
Former Danbury Detective/Sgt. Adam Fernand was 51, the Danbury News-Times said.
Fernand joined the department at the age of 21 in June 1985 and was promoted to sergeant in 1997.

He received many commendations and awards before retiring in 2014, the News-Times said.
Fernand is survived by his wife, Valerie Sforza, and two children.
