Gary Kingston, who is being noticed by audiences for his appearance as Ivan in 'The Seafarer," will teach acting at The Schoolhouse Theater starting April 8, Tuesday evenings at 6 pm, for 8 weeks.
Mr. Kingston is a senior faculty member at The Neighborhood Playhouse in NYC and was trained by master teacher Sanford Meisner. In addition to having acted in San Francisco, London, Stockholm and New York, Mr. Kingston is a founding member of the Neighborhood Group Theater and a director whose wor k has been seen in NYC at The Arclight Theater, Alice's Upstairs and the Rita Morgenthau Theater.
Kingston was brought to The Schoolhouse's attention by Artistic Director Pamela Moller Kareman who knew of his work at The Neighborhood Playhouse and cast him in "The Seafarer." For his performance in "The Seafarer," audience members have singled out Kingston as bringing a "warmth, clarity and insight" to Ivan that is "humorous and heartbreaking."

"Training the next - or current - generation of actors is something we want to do more of at the Schoolhouse," said Executive Director James Shearwood. The class will consist of exercises and scene work appropriate to each student's level of experience.
Tuition for the 8-week class is $290. There is limited scholarship assistance available. The Tuesday evening class will meet for 2-3 hours depending on its size.

Individual tickets for "The Seafarer," which runs through Sunday, April 6, are $35 on Thursday and Friday and $37 on Saturday evening and Sunday matinee. Student tickets are available for $20.
