UPDATE: Report of Stolen Car Causes Police Chase, School Lockdown
The suspect was found hiding behind the War Memorial, and across South Street near the school, triggering the lockdown.

DANBURY, CT - The report of a stolen car caused South Street School to go on lockdown, while police chased the man suspected of stealing it, The News Times is reporting.
A man noticed someone driving his stolen car downtown around 2 p.m. Friday. He flagged down a police officer, who stopped the car. The driver fled on foot, and police gave chase.
The suspect was found hiding behind the War Memorial, and across South Street near the school, triggering the lockdown. The young man is described as wearing a black and red shirt, and locals described someone fitting that description running through backyards in the area.

The suspect remains at large. K9's have been brought onto the scene to assist with the search, and tracked the suspect from South Street through to the intersection of Comstock and Liberty streets where the scent was lost.
