Trader Joe's Pistachios Recalled Due to Possible Salmonella Contamination
A Samonella outbreak has sickened 11 people across nine states, including one person in Connecticut.

DANBURY, CT-- According to Food Safety News, contaminated pistachios are linked to a Samonella outbreak that has sickened 11 people across nine states, including one in Connecticut.
The Wonderful Company sells their product through Wonderful, Paramount Farms and Trader Joe's. According to the FDA announcement, the pistachios are being recalled due to possible salmonella contamination.
Trader Joe's posted the following notice on their website:
"We have been alerted by our supplier of In-Shell, Roasted Pistachios that the following products with the “BEST IF USED BY” date codes from 2016 OCT 27 through 2016 NOV 04 may be contaminated with Salmonella:
Trader Joe’s Dry Roasted & Unsalted Pistachios (UPC 0007 9990)
Trader Joe’s Dry Roasted & Salted Pistachios (UPC 0007 9983)
Trader Joe’s 50% Less Salt Roasted & Salted Pistachios (UPC 0011 1348)
These products are packaged in 16 oz plastic bags with the with code information stamped on the back of the package, along the bottom. The products were distributed to Trader Joe’s stores nationwide.
Out an abundance of caution, all lots of our Dry Roasted & Unsalted Pistachios, Roasted & Salted Pistachios, and50% Less Salt Roasted & Salted Pistachios have been removed from store shelves and their sale has been suspended while the issue is investigated.
If you purchased any of these In-Shell, Roasted Pistachio products with the specified BEST IF USED BY dates from 2016 OCT 27 through 2016 NOV 04, please do not eat them. We urge you to discard the product or return it to any Trader Joe’s for a full refund.
No illnesses have been reported to date."
