Union Saving Bank honors "Hometown Heroes" at Bridgeport Bluefish Game

[Danbury, Conn., July 29, 2014] At a recent Bridgeport Bluefish home game, Union Savings Bank honored local firefighters, representing the Where Angels Play foundation, as “Hometown Heroes.” As part of Union Savings Bank’s ongoing partnership with the Bridgeport Bluefish to honor community heroes who help “Make the World a Better Place,” these firefighters were recognized for their contribution to building 26 playgrounds that will serve as living memorials to all children who have been victims of violence. Inspired by the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy and in an effort to rebuild on the East coast after Hurricane Sandy, the organization’s mission is to create safe, fun places for children to be children and to provide a symbol of hope, recovery and a return to normalcy. Also honored was Toni Giordano of Giordano Contracting LLC, for the tremendous time, dedication and resources she has contributed to the project.
