WCSU in Danbury Sets Events for November

Jazz, Football, the Parthenon, the Planets, an Electronic Cookbook and way, way, more, awaits this fall at WCSU.

WSCU: NOV. 2 SVPA NIGHT FOR THE ARTS: The Night for the Arts is an evening of entertainment that will take you on a journey designed to enchant and amaze you. It begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Visual and Performing Arts Center on the WCSU Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury. Imagine a movable feast where you will enjoy gourmet “dining by-the-bite,” wine and beer, followed by desserts and dancing (optional), all while experiencing the talents of art, music and theatre arts students and faculty. NOV. 3 OPEN HOUSE: WCSU will host its annual Open House from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Feldman Arena of the O’Neill Center on the university’s Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury. NOV. 13 “ARE ENVIRONMENTAL EXPOSURES A DANGER TO YOUR MENTAL HEALTH?”: The WCSU Institute for Holistic Health Studies will present Integrative Physician Dr. Aly Cohen for a discussion about “Are Environmental Exposures a Danger to Your Mental Health?” at 7:30 p.m. in Ives Concert Hall in White Hall on the university’s Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury. Cohen will discuss evidence-based data on everyday chemicals and EMF exposures, and how they contribute to mental health conditions. NOV. 22 PREVENTION OF COMPASSION FATIGUE WITH SELF-CARE AND HEALTH- PROMOTION PRACTICES: WCSU will host a series of workshops on Prevention of Compassion Fatigue with Self-Care and Health-Promotion Practices. The third in the series, “Emotional Freedom Technique,” will be at 7 p.m. in Room 122 of White Hall on the university’s Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury. The session will explore the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), known as tapping. EFT is an evidence-based, self-help therapy that induces a state of relaxation when disturbing or upsetting emotions are released via tapping with fingers on various acupuncture points on the body. Dr. Bozena Padykula with the WCSU Department of Nursing will run the workshops, which are free and open to WCSU students, nurses and health care professionals.
