OCT. 1 HUMAN LIBRARY: The Western Connecticut State University Libraries will host the first
Human Library event at WCSU offering members of the university and area communities an
opportunity to hold one-on-one conversations with “human books” — volunteers from diverse
backgrounds who will share their unique stories and challenges. The event will be held from 1 to 5

OCT. 2 & 3 SILENT WITNESS EXHIBIT: WCSU and The Women’s Center of Greater Danbury will host“ The Silent Witness Exhibit ” from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2, in the Student Center on the university’s Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury, and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3, in the Campus Center on the Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Extension. The
Silent Witness Exhibit honors the lives of domestic violence homicide victims by inviting the community to observe statues created in their honor, through family support, community connections and advocacy for change. Many men and women die each year in acts of domestic violence and each one has a story. The event will share and honor the stories of Connecticut residents who have lost their lives to acts of domestic violence and of college-aged individuals around the country who have lost their lives as a result of dating violence. individuals and families in need of health services, housing support and other community service aid. OCT. 25 PREVENTION OF COMPASSION FATIGUE WITH SELF-CARE AND HEALTH- PROMOTION PRACTICES: WCSU will host a series of workshops on Prevention of Compassion Fatigue with Self-Care and Health-Promotion Practices. The second in the series, “Aromatherapy,” will be at 7 p.m. in Room 122 of White Hall on the university’s Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury. The session will explore aromatherapy as a fast growing Complementary Health Approach (CHA) used by many health care professionals in the United States and around the world for management of symptoms for self-care and client needs. OCT. 28 FUNDRAISING BREAKFAST: The WCSU Women’s Basketball Tip-Off Breakfast will be from 7:15 to 8:30 a.m. in the Ballroom of the Westside Campus Center on the university’s Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury. The public is invited. There will be no admission charge, but participants will be encouraged to make “tip” donations. This is the annual fundraiser for the women’s basketball team. OCT. 30 FILM SCREENING AND DISCUSSION: The WCSU Alumni Nursing Society and WCSU Alumni Association will host a screening of the documentary film, “ Dorothea's Tears: The State of Mental Health Care in America ,” at 4 p.m. in the Student Center Theater on the university’s Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury. The film by Keith Maciog and Geer Teng explores the repercussions of America's trend to “deinstitutionalize” and shut down state mental hospitals. OCT. 30 SODEXO ELITE DINNER NIGHT: A dinner offering authentic Hispanic and Latin food from various countries in honor of Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month will be from 4:30 to 8 p.m. in the Danbury Room in the Student Center on the WCSU Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury. The public is invited to attend and join students in sampling food at a cost of $10 per guest; students can use Flex Points or a meal swipe.
