WCSU Hosts 'Social Work Expo 2016'

The Western Connecticut State University Department of Social Work will host 'Social Work Expo 2016' on Sept. 21. Free and open the public.

DANBURY, CONN. - The Western Connecticut State University Department of Social Work will host "Social Work Expo 2016" from 1 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 21, in Warner Hall on the university's Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury.

The expo will provide an educational and professional setting for discussion about social work and is a networking opportunity for anyone interested in becoming involved in the field. WCSU students and members of the public will have the opportunity to engage with representatives from Master of Social Work programs and social services agencies to discuss their interests in the participating programs as well as inquire about employment and internship opportunities. Assistance with resume writing will be provided, and attendees can participate in a mock interview to help further them in their search for employment post-graduation.

Participating programs will include the University of Connecticut, New York University, University of Chicago, Department of Children and Families, Green Chimneys, the Peace Corps, University of South Carolina, National Association of Social Workers-Connecticut and more.

WCSU Department of Social Work Assistant Professor Dr. Dineen Harris said, "Attending Social Work Expo 2016 will provide an opportunity to speak with agencies and MSW programs that you may never have considered while planning for your future."
