Here Is Why WestConn Was Placed On Lockdown: UPDATE
There was never any danger or threat to anyone at school or in vicinity.

DANBURY, CT -- Mayor Mark Boughton and a spokesman for Western Connecticut State University have reported that the situation at WSCU is "all clear," following reports of a gunman on campus. University officials said that a piece of music equipment led to the lockdown and concern Monday afternoon.
ALL CLEAR: An employee was the person identified as possibly carrying a gun. But it was a piece of equipment - a mic stand, apparently. ALL CLEAR

Police and Boughton had both taken to social media to ensure residents there was no active shooter at any time.
Around noon, WSCU's student-run online newspaper tweeted a notification from the WCSU Emergency Notification System indicating that police were investigating an unconfirmed report of a man with a "long rifle" entering White Hall, and that the building had been evacuated. Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton confirmed at that time that White Hall was on lockdown and under police investigation. After a "suspect" was taken into custody, the WCSU ENS would report that "there is no longer a threat on campus."

WCSU ENS shortly thereafter reported that police were looking for a possible second person, and advised their midtown campus to "shelter in place."
An hour later, state police confirmed through social media that they were on the scene, along with members of the Danbury police and WCSU campus police. At that time they confirmed the whole campus was on lockdown, but that there was no active shooter nor had any shots ever been fired.
