WEATHER UPDATE: Heavy Rains, Thunderstorms Forecast For Connecticut

The state is expected to see between 2-3 inches of rain beginning late tonight and fog will be an issue.

The latest Saturday evening forecast from the National Weather Service calls for between 1-3 inches of rain to fall beginning this evening and lasting until around midday Sunday before it begins to taper off Sunday evening.

For the southern half of Connecticut including Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex, and New London counties, heavy rain and thunderstorms are possible beginning after 9 and 10 p.m. tonight.

Fog is expected to be an issue, the weather service writes, which could last up until 10 a,m. Sunday. Wind gusts between 20-37 mph are also a possibility.

Between 1-2 inches of rain is expected in the Southern part of the state.

Up north in Hartford and Tolland counties between 2-3 inches of rainfall is expected. The heaviest rain there will begin in the overnight hours with a possibility of thunderstorms.

Fog is also expected to be an issue up until 3 p.m. Sunday, and in Hartford and Tolland counties the rain will remain heavy until mid Sunday afternoon before tapering off to showers late Sunday evening, the weather service writes.
