The firm constructs 13th Sandy House to withstand predicted dangerous winds and water

Bethel, Ct It’s the year of El Nino and meteorologists are warning of severe storms and hurricanes in the months ahead. In preparation Westchester Modular Homes is implementing new Connecticut State Building requirements related to damaging winds and water. Says the firm’s General Manager, Joseph Enright “We want to make sure homes devastated by Super Sandy in 2012, can withstand dangerous weather conditions by implementing these new requirements. Currently we are rebuilding a Sandy home for the Carlson family in Niantic, Ct. Because the home is on the sound, and subject to 110 mile winds, we installed special windows, hurricane strapping and five tons of rebars which are steel reinforcement rods to increase the tensile strength of the home’s concrete foundation. We have essentially created a break wall or anchor,” he adds.

“The factory in Wingdale New York has completed over a dozen Sandy homes for the Bethel office and 170 in the Northeast, comments Marketing and Advertising Director

Working in a controlled environment accelerates the building process and keeps down costs. The beachfront home sports two decks, wood flooring and a see-through fireplace along with a full basement…all the amenities that the Carlson’s had on their wish list.” The family is planning to move into their new home around the beginning of June
