WestConn Athletics Dedicates Season to Help Coach With Brain Tumor

Western Connecticut State University Athletics department asks players to "Stand Strong for Shaun."

The Western Connecticut State University (WCSU) Athletics department teams are joining forces to help one of their own.

This season, the intercollegiate sports program will be running fundrasing events to help women’s assistant soccer coach Shaun Bailey who was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor.

Bailey is in his sixth season with the women’s program at WCSU. He is the Director for Connecticut Junior Soccer Association U-12 to U-14 YPDP/ODP Program, Region One Boys’ ODP staff and a member of the CJSA Coaching Education staff. In 2009, he was installed as Director of Coaching for Danbury Youth Soccer.

The WCSU athletic teams will dedicate single games during the 2014-15 school year to collect donations for the “Stand Strong for Shaun Fund.” They will also sell concessions and hold contests throughout the year, with proceeds going to the fund.
