When You Think of Connecticut What Do You Think of?

Former Editor of Connecticut Magazine set to entertain crowd at The Danbury Public Library

Connecticut: What Makes Our State So Great?

Traveling out of state recently (to Idaho) provided me with the opportunity to think about what Connecticut means to me. For me, Connecticut is like California in the 1990's; with its excellent school system (elementary to University), farm-to-table epicurean culture, land, gorgeous fall, opportunities for outdoor recreation and fabulous people. Though we are New England, and though good fences make good neighbors, once you are in the orbit of a fellow citizen of Connecticut, you know you are in the presence of a striving soul. Connecticut grit, determination and verve, along with our culture of excellence is part and parcel of our ethos and vibe.

Former editor of Connecticut Magazine, Charles Monagan wondered out-loud the same thing, only he went all over the Nutmeg State to find out, discover it, research about it and, ultimately, write a fabulous and popular "coffee table-style" book about Connecticut's icons. Want to listen to a great story teller share what are the best things, places and cultural elements of Connecticut? We are so much more than the Nutmeg State.

As Monagan reveals, "The icons range from hot lobster rolls to Yale Bowl, from stone walls to steamed cheeseburgers, and from Sleeping Giant to Top-Sider deck shoes. This presentation will be filled with lots of surprising and revealing information about Connecticut places and things you thought you already knew about."

Mr. Monagan will make copies of his book available for purchase for $20.00. They make excellent gifts for weddings, hostess gifts, teachers, Connecticut history lovers, graduates, business owners and Connecticut lovers, new and old.
