Now we'd like to ask a few questions about your reasons for running and your general views on politics and government. First, why are you seeking this office?

I grew up in Darien and benefitted from getting a great education attending the public school system. I’d like my kids and others to have that same opportunity.

Please complete this statement: The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it.

There is too much politics involved in Darien’s education system, from its BOE members, to administration and faculty that is making its way into the classroom to the detriment of our children.

Solution: empower teachers to get back to the basics of reading, writing and arithmetic.

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

I grew up in Darien, so have a long-term vested interest in doing what is best for the town and its students long term.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

I’ve been surrounded by teachers my whole life - my mom taught at MMS for 25 years and my wife taught before we had children. The BOE needs to open up the lines of communication with teachers, the most essential constituency in the educational process.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?

My mom always used to tell me I have a good head on my shoulders with a great smile - make sure I use it.
