44th Annual Darien Road Race Raises Over $45K

DARIEN, CT — The 44th annual Darien Road Race and Family Fun Day, which took place on Sept. 15 at Pear Tree Point Beach in Darien, raised over $45,000 for The Community Fund of Darien.

The event was energized with the generous support of local sponsors, businesses, families, and individuals.

Each year, The Community Fund of Darien, in a carefully vetted process engaging scores of volunteers, provides over $650,000 in grants to support local nonprofit organizations that provide neighbors in Darien, Norwalk, and Stamford access to food, shelter, physical and mental health care, job training and youth success programs.

The Darien Road Race and Family Fun Day featured two timed races: the 1.5-mile fun run and the 5-mile race which began and ended at Pear Tree Point Beach. The Community Fund of Darien was honored to have First Selectman Jon Zagrodzky as the official race starter and to welcome local youth volunteers and groups that included high school sports teams and youth groups.
