5 Unlocked Cars Parked In Darien Entered Overnight: Police

DARIEN, CT — A Canada Goose jacket was reported stolen from one of five cars parked on Five Mile River Road that were entered Jan. 11, according to police.

In a news release, Police Sgt. Dan Skoumbros said a woman reported her 2017 Mini Cooper was entered sometime overnight and her black Canada Goose jacket was missing from the vehicle.

The jacket was later found in a neighbor's yard, Skoumbros said.

That same day, a man reported his 2021 Ford, 2016 Range Rover and 2021 Dodge had all been entered after noticing the interior lights of the vehicles on around midnight.

According to Skoumbros, the man's video surveillance showed a suspect enter the vehicles with a flashlight, however police were unable to identify the suspect's gender or clothing from the video.

No items were reported missing from the vehicle, Skoumbros said.

Police also received a report of a 2019 Dodge having been entered sometime overnight. While the vehicle's glove box was found open in the morning, nothing was reported missing, Skoumbros said.

All five vehicles were unlocked at the time of the burglaries, according to Skoumbros.
