Middlesex Honors Principal Debi Boccanfuso

The Middlesex Parent Association celebrated principal Dr. Debi Boccanfuso's twenty-sixth year at Middlesex Middle School by hosting a special coffee in her honor.

The event's theme "Soar to New Heights" was featured in the festive hot air balloon table center pieces and in the present given to Dr. Boccanfuso, a got air balloon ride for her and her husband.  MPA co-chair Celeste Marsh presented Dr. Boccanfuso with her gift and announced that the MPA is also establishing a scholarship fund in her name.

Marsh spoke of Dr. Boccanfuso's illustrious career at MMS in which she has held positions as a special education and a regular education teacher, a team leader for both seventh and eighth grades, assistant principal, and principal.   Under her leadership, Middlesex was recognized as a prestigious Blue Ribbon School in 2008.

Marsh credited Dr. Boccanfuso for being “responsible for conceptualizing, nurturing, and supporting co-teaching at Middlesex since 1992 where the teachers have become instructionally focused and student-centered under her leadership.  She has set the stage for nurturing education in the numerous ways she has touched others and she is known for her effervescent style of endless words of wisdom.”

In addition to her distinguished career in education, Dr. Boccanfuso is the mother of four children and is actively involved in her community serving as a Eucharistic minister and a Sunday school teacher in her church, as well as, participating in 30 Hour Famines, Midnight Runs, 60-mile Breast Cancer Walks, and The Notre Dame Convalescent Home Guild.   She somehow also has found time to write and publish a book titled “11 Easy Steps to Raise a Brat”.
