Person-to-Person is pleased to announce that it received a grant of $5,000 from Newman’s Own Foundation in support of the agency's Emergency Assistance Program. This grant was extremely helpful as Person-to-Person worked to meet the continued need for assistance with food, clothing and shelter.
Since the beginning of the economic downturn, P2P has seen a substantial increase in the number of people requiring emergency assistance. Diane Reese Tucker, Director of Development at P2P, notes that the agency’s clients now include people who were, until recently, financially secure. “This is in addition to the working poor who typically reach out to us for help, so the generosity of this grant has helped us keep up with the demand.”
Tucker highlights the fact that every dollar the agency receives makes a difference, with more than 90% of all donations going directly to client programs and services. “We provide emergency assistance in a number of ways, from grants for rent or utilities to groceries for families to prepare nutritious meals for several days.”
