Thunder Hill, you asked me why the virulence against you by the Posties. First, ask yourself why they would not want to improve Post 53 with Darien based paramedics. If you really wanted a top flight EMS organization that is what you would want.
Here is a more direct answer to your question. Before this blog, I have concentrated for the most part on response times. You have gone straight after the issue of quality of care. You have raised the issue of high school kids performing critical care and the Posties do not want that discussion to occur. What many people in Darien talk about secretly you have brought out into the open. They just can't handle that.
Post 53 is very powerful in Darien. Post is engrained in the fabric of the Darien community and many people cannot accept that it is not what it should be. Post has political and social power that does not tolerate criticism. As crazy as it may seem, paramedics are feared because they would alter the control balance within EMS. There are also those who don't want to spend more money.
As irrational as this may seem, that is why you have experienced these attacks. I am not surprised. I have been physically threatened but the Postie thought better of it. They went after my family on the Internet. For these and other reasons, I do not respect the organization.
Stay tuned,
Walter Casey
