Ann Goodhue, Lived in Darien for 52 Years

Ann was an avid designer, traveler and photographer.

Ann Goodhue, a 52-year resident of Darien, died peacefully on January 16th. Her family was by her side when she passed after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

Her strength through it was remarkable and inspiring. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Dr. Peter Goodhue, OBGYN of Stamford Hospital; her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Christopher Hughes of Darien, CT; her son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Betsy Goodhue of Baltimore, MD; her brother, Bill Helfenstein of South Carolina; and her grandchildren, Alexandra and Peter Hughes of Darien, and Richard and Charlie Goodhue of Baltimore, MD. Ann was born in Live Oak, FL in 1933 to Charles Phillip Helfenstein and Alberta Arnold Helfenstein.

Her father owned newspapers in Live Oak and in Caribou, ME where Ann was a cheerleader for the Caribou Maine High School. She studied Art at Boston University and was crowned the junior prom queen. She then worked as a graphic artist for Dell Publishing in Manhattan. Ann was an avid designer, traveler and photographer.

There will be a memorial service for Ann at her spiritual home, St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 1864 Post Road on Saturday, January 28th at 11:00 AM, followed by a reception at Wee Burn Country Club.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Stamford Hospital Foundation, Bennett Cancer Center, 1351 Washington Blvd., Suite 202, Stamford, CT 06902 or Darien Post 53, P.
