Audit Phobia

Don't be surprised if the BOF has second thoughts about the forensic audit. For example, sampling 100% might be scratched because of privacy concerns. This would be a red herring. Auditors deal with confidential information all the time and student names can be redacted. Also, how could any of the cost reimbursement billings to the state have been audited in prior years if privacy was such a roadblock? Why am I worried that the BOF might try and weaken the audit? One reason is that BOF members may be implicated in attempts to cut Special Ed. Expenses irrespective of means. Remember, the Gamm reports hints at criminal activity. The BOF must also be concerned that billings to the state in prior years were also fraudulent. That would open up a potentially very large liability for the town.
