Christmas, Hanukkah Events In Darien: Parades, Tree Lightings, More

There are several events scheduled in the coming weeks in Darien to get into the holiday spirit.

DARIEN — There is no shortage of things to do in Darien to get the winter holiday season off to a rollicking good start

Christmas and Hanukkah, the eight-day Jewish festival of lights, intersect this year, with Hanukkah running Dec. 18-26. Christmas, of course, is on Dec. 25, but you don’t have to wait to start taking in all the sights and sounds of the holidays.

The Darien Chamber of Commerce recently announced its "Spirit Of The Season" lineup — a collaboration of holiday festivities scheduled over the next few weeks.

The Festival O' Wreaths 2.0, a shop local, town-wide event, will run from Nov. 25 through Dec. 21.

The 44th annual Darien tree lighting is slated for Sunday, Nov. 27, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Darien Sport Shop. Come out and stroll the shops and take in the magic of the new town wide holidays lights provided by the Darien Chamber of Commerce. There will be fun activities for the kids provided by the Darien Parks & Recreation Department.

On Saturday, Dec. 10, St. Nick will head to the Mather Homestead for a visit and fun activities for all.

Also on Dec. 10, the Old Fashioned Holiday event will take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Tilley Pond Park.

The Menorah lighting will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 21 at 6 p.m. from Grove Street Plaza. More details will be announced.

The Depot's Christmas Wrap-Up event will run from Dec. 17-21. Held at the Depot Youth Center, the community can drop their Christmas gifts off to be wrapped by student volunteers for only a $25 minimum donation.
