Community Helps Darien Firefighter Hurt in Snowboarding Accident
Darien firefighter and Board of Finance member David Lopiano sustained a spinal injury in a snowboarding accident.
DARIEN, CT- A Darien firefighter and Board of Finance member was seriously injured in a Vermont snowboarding accident and the community is coming together to help him.
David Lopiano, was on a trail when he lost his edge and had to make a choice between crashing into someone else or into an object, according to his You Caring page.
His momentum carried him into a tree at a high rate of speed. He sustained spinal trauma and other injuries in the accident.

A You Caring page has been set up to help his family with medical expenses. So far nearly $27,000 has been raised out of a $35,000 goal as of April 20.
