Construction To Begin Soon On New Cherry Lawn Park Playground

DARIEN, CT — The Darien Parks and Recreation Department has announced that construction of the new playground at Cherry Lawn Park will begin the week of May 27.

Cherry Lawn Park will get a major renovation thanks to a federal grant, and improvements will include new playground equipment and flooring.

Work is expected to take approximately five to six weeks to complete with an opening date in mid-July, according to the town.

In March, the town launched a brick fundraiser to connect the parking lot to the playground. Residents could purchase a brick with a special message.

During construction, the Cherry Lawn playgrounds will be closed. Residents can check out other playgrounds at Weed Beach, Baker Park and McGuane Park.
