Darien Boys Lacrosse Advances to Class M Semifinals

Playing without its top offensive player for almost the entire game, the Darien boys lacrosse team advanced to the semifinals of the CIAC Class M quarterfinals Saturday with a 10-5 victory over Fairfield Ludlowe.
Junior Case Matheis suffered an injury less than two minutes into the contest and did not return for the Blue Wave.
Richard Gregory picked up the slack with three goals for Darien (19-2), which will face rival Wilton in the semifinals on Wednesday. The Warriors advanced with a 13-1 win over Guilford on Saturday.

Saturday's game was more competitive than the two previous games between the teams in which Darien outscored Ludlowe by a combined 34-5. Last week, the Blue Wave routed the Falcons 17-1 in the FCIAC playoffs.
Graham Maybell and Henry West each added two goals for Darien, which only led 1-0 after the first quarter and 5-3 at halftime.

Jake Mason scored two goals for Ludlowe, which finished the year at 10-8. The other Falcons' goals were scored by Christopher Stern, Nate Ryan and Brendan Errett.
