Darien Coronavirus Update: 72 Confirmed Cases, State Says

In Fairfield County, the number of positive cases reached 1,986, up from 1,870, or more than half of the cases in Connecticut.

DARIEN, CT — Darien had 72 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus (COVID-19) as of Wednesday, as cases in town and around Connecticut continue to multiply, according to state health officials.

New Canaan had 55 cases, local officials said, and reported its sixth death on Wednesday due to complications from the virus. Norwalk has reported 15 deaths and 315 confirmed cases as of Wednesday.

Statewide, the number of deaths due to the virus reached 85 as of Wednesday, an increase of 16 over Tuesday, state health officials said. The total number of coronavirus cases in Connecticut was 3,557 as of Wednesday.
