Darien Fireworks Postponed Due To Weather Concerns

Officials said the town has "made the difficult decision to postpone" the fireworks.

DARIEN, CT — Darien’s fireworks have been postponed due to a threat of thunderstorms in Friday’s forecast, officials announced Thursday evening.

“Due to the threat of thunderstorms for Friday, July 14th, the Town of Darien has made the difficult decision to postpone the Town Fireworks,” officials wrote in a post on Twitter. “We are assessing the weather for the Saturday, July 15th rain date.”

The event will feature live music will be provided by the Darien Community Band, and local food trucks will be on-site. There will also be face painting for kids, and a sensory-friendly location for viewers. Residents are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs.
